Gardenia 2020 coverage

April 27, 2021

Once again, we share with you our observations from the Gardenia fair, which took place from February 13 to 15, 2020. in Poznań.

We are convinced that the side at which Gardeniais going is the right direction, and that the time and energy invested in this event are not lost.

More and more foreign exhibitors offer their products and services in Gardenia. Direct contact with them makes it possible to ask numerous questions
and establishing interesting cooperation and identifying trends coming from the western border.

The number of entrepreneurs from the East who come to establish contacts with Polish entrepreneurs is also increasing.

Thanks to the beautiful arrangement of the exhibitors and the hardships of the organizers, the development of the fairgrounds can take visitors to the “wonderful land of plants”, where, apart from new varieties, you can also discover interesting facts about cultivation technology, including the popular biological protection of plants. Many lectures
and shows; scientific and legal changes as well as those related to the horticulture industry, e.g. in the field of horticulture, diversify the visitors’ time and provide them with professional knowledge.

In relation to our activities, we have met with a special interest in bamboos.

Although bamboos have interested Poles before, fearing frosty winters and the invasiveness of these plants, it was not possible for this species of the grass family to break through on our market.

Everything changes, however. Winters are more and more mild, and the produced varieties are more and more resistant, and the problem of invasiveness has been limited in the genetic field of given varieties.

The bamboo variety presented by us: Fargesia murielae Jumbo – Jumbo Bamboo – light green, frost-resistant, reaching about 3 m. height – caused an avalanche of questions about this group of plants, but the adult specimen only pleased the visitors. Professionals were interested in small young plants. We proposed a solution – variants: Simba, Simba “Splendid”, Rufa, Tiny, Nitida, Bambi –transported in P11 pots.

Poles still have a greater ‘appetite for exoticism’. However, producers do not want to spend a fortune on heating. We were asked very often about eucalyptus, the popularity of which in Poland is growing as an addition to bouquets, although, unfortunately, they are mainly imported in cut form.

We were able to talk openly on this subject with gardeners, thanks to the knowledge and acquaintances gained at various foreign fairs. We know well the problems of Polish growers regarding the cultivation of eucalyptus. Young, small seedlings often freeze and dry easily, usually causing numerous losses. We managed to solve this problem by establishing cooperation with producers who deliver 6-month-old seedlings in 40-hole pallets to North-Western Europe. High-quality plants of an appropriate size planted into the ground in April, give the opportunity to start harvesting in September,
which significantly speeds up production.

To our delight, the Flower Care (FTG) paints and conditioners presented by us met with great interest. Because of them, our position was besieged by both gardeners, florists and amateurs engaged in artistic works.

The manufacturer of the FTG brand, who persistently accompanied us during the fair, gave as many as two interviews and although he does not know Polish, he answered numerous questions with our help.

These paints advertise themselves, just look at the photo below. Their additional advantage is the lack of toxicity, they were created on the basis of natural ingredients and the diluent is water. Plants can be given a light, pastel or more expressive color, you can also create a metallic shine, or the shine itself, which can also be combined with glitter.

Even growing plants can be dyed, because the paints do not interfere with physiological processes at all, and in the case of cut plants, they even protect them, even against the loss of turgor.

Cut flower producers ordered a conditioner for roses and alstroemeria at the fair, claiming that they work very well and are competitively priced.

An important part of our exhibition was Alstroemeria, both for cut and potted flowers.
We presented new varieties of cut alstroemeria, potted alstroemeria aroused great interest among visitors who complained about the inability to buy this product.

This exhibition will surely contribute to the popularization of the new generation of flower paints, professional conditioners, as well as the sale of seedlings, including Fargesia, Eucalyptus, Garden Alstroemeria and others.
